SAN ANGELO – Comic Con’s popularity has become a huge success due to its “diehard” enthusiasts’ whose interests lie in either meeting their favorite cosplayers, checking out classic comic books, anime, film, science fiction, or fantasy genres.

Among the 2024, CC edition’s plethora of cosplayers were San Angelo locals: The Real West Texas Ghost Busters, and Sabre Grey. Flaco Guapo Media attended Friday’s January 26, soft opening and met with Scott Smith, three-year owner of Comic Con. The first guests to speak were Olivia Hack, and Lizzie Freeman voice actors. Both panel members spoked about what it is like to be a woman in the voice acting realm, and the difference between being a voice actor compared to being a live actor, stated Smith.
“San Angelo has always been welcoming as a community, and embraced us,” said Smith, evidenced by attendance numbers which has steadily increased, with 2,000 plus last year.

Mr. Freeze the supervillain was played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1997 movie, "Batman and Robin." Mr. Freeze was one of Chuck Martin's collectibles on display at Comic Con. Martin is affiliated with Castle Jones Vintage.
