MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS PANEL PRESENTATION

SAN ANGELO – In anticipation of Mental Health Awareness Month in May, Angelo State University will host a presentation and panel discussion titled “Myths in Mental Health” on Thursday, April 18, in the Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. in the University Center’s C.J. Davidson Conference Center and is open free to the public. The panel will be made up of ASU psychology faculty and staff, as well as local mental health professionals. Discussion topics will include:
“Understanding Abnormality: The 4 F’s” – Dr. Drew Curtis, ASU assistant professor of psychology

“Diagnosis: A Double-Edged Sword” – Mark Rehm, director of ASU Counseling Services

“Recent Advances in Treatment of Depression: Special K and Magnetism” – Dr. John Snuggs, private practice in adult psychiatry

“Myths of the Insanity Defense” – Dr. Jarvis Wright, private forensic practice

The event is sponsored by the ASU Office of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.
