SAN ANGELO – Every year the San Angelo Rodeo Junior Clown & Princess “Hey Y’all” Contest is worth attending for several reasons, one being the child-like innocent responses. One of the most popular Rodeo kids' event was held at the
San Angelo Visitor Center.
For example, here is a reply between two brothers: Timothy Hatten age five and older brother, Benjamin Hatten. When both were asked who was going to win the Jr. Rodeo Clown Contest, Timothy without missing a beat said, Me, I'm gonna win!"
Five-year-old, Martin Portillo attended his first, official "Hey Y'all" San Angelo Rodeo Junior Clown and Princess Contest held on Saturday, January 12 at 10 a.m. 
Susannah Mann was prepping the Junior Clowns and Princesses prior to being judged to make them feel at ease. Great job, Savannah!
This little Rodeo Princess was in her own world, so pleasingly cute and calm.
This Junior rodeo clown was asked a question by one of the Ambassador emcees and his response was so spot-on when he replied, sheepishly "Wait, what?"

This year's 13th annual SARJCP event was no exception as a total of 50 kids, from five-years-old to nine, not only braved, brisk temperatures and strong winds, but also faced two San Angelo Ambassador emcees: Abby Walker and Addie Nehus, who asked them questions.

As for the three other Ambassadors who judged the clowns and princesses’ appearance and personality, they were: Lauren Feller, Shayleigh Albert and Logan Price.
50 children from ages five to nine-years-old participated in the 13th annual San Angelo Rodeo Junior Clown and Princess Contest held at the San Angelo Visitor Center on Saturday, January 12th.
This year’s director is Sally Green and Ambassador coach is Misty Preston. Try-outs for the 2019 SARJCP Contest were held Saturday, January 12 at 10:00 a.m. "The selected children will participate in a part of the Mutton Bustin' during one rodeo performance. There is no Mutton Bustin' during the PRCA Finals or the Cinch Chute Out," per San Angelo Rodeo website.

NOTE: The San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo kicks up its heels for its 87th successful year on Friday, February 1 at 7:30 p.m. from the Foster Communications Coliseum.
Meanwhile its "twin relative" so to speak, the San Angelo Rodeo Parade in its 88th year, comes to town on Saturday, February 2. The Parade will start at 10 a.m. and take place in downtown historic San Angeo.
