SAN ANGELO – Friday night’s showdown between the San Angelo Central Bobcats versus the Haltom Buffaloes in a winner take all for the district 3-6A crown, the cards didn’t fall Central’s way as its bid for a sixth consecutive title was derailed by Haltom who crushed the ‘Cats’ hopes with a 50-33 convincing win in a game played at San Angelo Stadium.

From the opening drive on the Buffaloes’ first series, Haltom’s quick strike offense took only a minute and 24 seconds off the clock. Haltom’s quarterback, Michael Black, threw a 44-yard touchdown pass to his wide receiver, Decorian Mitchell. With the PAT failure, the Buffaloes led 6-0 with 11:16 left.

The Bobcats offense, led by Sophomore sensation, Malachi Brown, couldn’t do anything on their first series which led to a punt.

Haltom picked up where they left off on their second drive as it marshalled down field with another six-pointer, this one by back, Kenneth Cormier’s three-yard touchdown. After the Buffs led 13-0, and Central cut the lead 13-7 on Brown ‘s 12-yard touchdown run, Haltom went on a 17-point run. The first quarter ends, 16-7, Haltom.

Before the Buffaloes run of scores, the Cats’ Brown connects with his receiver, Jackson Timme from 16-yards out to get back some momentum, 16-13.
From that point on midway through the second quarter though, the Buffaloes close out all scoring with two touchdowns. The first one comes on a 29-yard touchdown run by Quentin Tshilombo; the second one is another run, this one an 11-yarder by Black to make it a half-time score, 30-13.
