The San Angelo Public Housing Authority hosted its 10th annual Family Fun Day on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 420 E. 28th Street.

The Texas heat couldn’t hold this event back, as families came and went throughout the afternoon.

Family Fun Day’s main purpose is to promote multiple agencies, such as the Children’s Advocacy Center, Esperanza Clinic, Texas Hunger Initiative, Living World Church, and Open Arms.  The shared goal of these agencies is to provide assistance and support to San Angelo families.

Amanda Cruz, the San Angelo Housing Authority Deputy Director, said that when the event first began, its main goal was to encourage father involvement but has since become an inclusive community event for all members of the family.

The event featured free T-shirts, bags, water bottles, snacks, and a surprise visit from Spider-man A.K.A Angel Delgado, a cosplayer.

“It’s a great opportunity for families to come out and see what services are offered to them, I know I definitely learned a lot more from this event,” said George Robinson, an event-goer.
