SAN ANGELO – Despite a seating capacity limited to 50%, all eight scheduled performances were sold out as families brought their children and emersed themselves for two hours into the magical world of Cirque’s performers.
Cirque’s ringmaster/swashbuckler, “high drama on the seas Caribbean” adventurer was its Clown Prince of princes “Rafinha.”

“Clown Rafinha” served double duty as ringmaster/ swashbuckler of Cirque Italia’s Pirate-themed Water Circus tour. Cirque stopped off in San Angelo for eight magical performances, March 4-8, 2021. The four-day event was held in the parking lot of the Sunset Mall, 4001 Sunset Drive.
Rafinha, a Brazilian native, and master of ceremonies brought his slapstick, comedic sense of humor that a well-represented audience endeared themselves to his being a favorite.
Rafinha’s storyline takes him fishing whereupon he unexpectedly reels in a bottle with a treasure map stuffed inside. The audience follows Rafinha on a journey that takes him through storms on the high seas, dreams of angelic aerialists, pirate fights, and more than what he bargained for.
“Shiver me timbers” Rafinha the adventurer’s professional colleagues also matched his under the Blue and White tent act with their own “A” game.
Attendees saw a wheel of death aerialist, a mermaid, jugglers, crossbow archer, etc.
The performers from their respective countries who made appearances were from Mexico, the USA, Italy, Brazil, and Columbia.
Cirque Italia has brought the high-class experience to audiences all over the United States since its inception in 2012.
