SAN ANGELO– Daddy-Daughter Date Night took center stage at the McNease for the 29th consecutive year, last night February 18, as the girls set the standard with their Dads, bringing their A-game when it comes to “getting this party started!” Tonight is part II with Mother-Son Date Night. And rest assured, the boys are going to have to step-up and step-out to match their female counterparts. DDDN theme for 2019: "Fiesta on the Concho."

About 600 Daddys' whose "dance-card-was-full" with their partners, daughters, took to the dance floor at the McNease Convention Center to kick-off the 29th annual Daddy-Daughter Date Night. DDDN was scheduled from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Among the 600 dance partners, was the duo of Mr. John Luna and his “dance-card-is-full” with my daddy, Hadley Luna. Luna informed Flaco Guapo that his 10-year-daughter started dancing with him when she was very, young. John was proud of Hadley as he says her best trait is that she listens to his instructions which makes it easy to dance with her. Both parent and offspring were dancing “up a storm” to one of the classics of the late 50s, Ritchie Valens’ La Bamba. Since Hadley is still learning to dance, there is a good chance we may all be seeing daughter-daddy on the bigger stage—“Dancing With The Stars, Kids.”

Entertainment was provided by a "pro's pro" DJ Lil Mario who although this was his "first rodeo" he has been around a long time as he brought it!

Mario played songs from the Josh Abbot Band, “She’s Like Texas”; “Uptown Fun” by Bruno Mars; “Cha Cha Slide;" and of course the latest craze among kids is the "Floss dance."

The City of San Angelo’s Recreation division puts on this annual holiday event that gives girls and boys ages 5-13 their special night during which they are the sole focus of their parent’s attention.

This daddy, daughter duo is Señor, Jorge Mendez and his lovely, 12-year-old, daughter, Lucrecia Mendez. Lucrecia attends Eden Junior High.

As DDN was winding down and the clock struck 8:45 p.m., an announcement was made on the following three winners. The third-place winner was Jade Herrera who was accompanied by her Dad, Arturo. Jade won a wireless speaker Frisbee.
