SAN ANGELO – “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity” (Psalm 133:1, King James Bible) The fulfillment of that passage of scripture, birthed from the heart of Pastor, Ronnie Hawkins, Jr., originated two years ago this past January 2017.

Pastor Hawkins, pastor of Christian Fellowship Baptist Church and the point man for this vision saw it come to fruition last weekend, Saturday, May 4, 2019 as 42 churches and its’ members out of approximately 100 churches assembled at San Angelo Stadium to pray, fellowship and to come together in “reconciliation peace, love and unity” among the brethren based upon Psalms 133.

Unity was clearly evident by the various churches represented; among them just to name a few: Christian Fellowship Baptist Church, St. Mark Presbyterian, SA Catholic Diocese, Comunidad Cristiania Maranatha, etc

The purpose of this Clarion Call, locally in San Angelo, was to bring different denominations which proclaim Jesus Christ as their Savior in “fellowship and prayer,” said Pastor Hawkins. Clarion call means “a strongly expressed demand or request for people to take action.” In the Old Testament, the people of Israel came together as a result of Moses or someone else calling, that is expressing a strong demand for the tribes of Israel to come together, continued Hawkins.

One way of means used to assemble God’s Israel came through the shophar which is an ancient musical horn made from the horn of a ram; this instrument was used in ancient times by the Israelites to sound a warning or a summons.

The shophar was sounded prior to each speaker’s appearance. The keynote speaker was Washington Redskins’ quarterback, Colt McCoy. Others scheduled to speak were: Minister, Gloria Pope from Galilee Baptist Church, Bishop Joseph L. Garlington, Sr., PhD, Senior Pastor of Covenant Church of Pittsburgh and the Rev. Michael Sis. Bishop of the Catholic of Diocese of San Angelo.

Bishop Sis’ message followed along the lines of that three-tier theme, his being on love. “What unites us is so much more important than what divides us,” he said. Bishop Sis stated to the body of Christ to take time out from our busy lives and say to God. “Lord, I accept your gift of love for me.” While God does not always agree with us, our actions nor share in our opinions. But He always loves us.”
