SAN ANGELO, TEXAS – Finally, after 15 months, Concho Valley Regional Food Bank’s new building, A, was opened to the community as CVRFB’s Executive Director, Greg Duke, welcomed its nonprofit partners considered like relatives, ranging from the United Way for the Concho Valley, Alcohol & Drug Abuse Council for the Concho Valley, Christian House of Faith, etc. to a ribbon cutting ceremony, on Wednesday, March 21, one day after spring officially began.

Besides agencies and City officials present, two other individuals there were Mr. Henry Schmidt and Mr. Matt Lewis; both were instrumental in bringing the new 21st century, state-of-the-art edifice into existence. Schmidt, owner of Architect AIA, designed the building which includes LED lighting and a digital phone system. And Lewis, Executive Director of San Angelo Area Foundation, funded $1 million dollars toward the project which in the end totaled $1.5 million dollars, stated Duke.

Having the new building, designated as A will make it so much easier to get things done. “It’s a great space to work in an attractive building and will nicely accommodate our needs,” said Duke. Building A has a square footage of 6, 375 feet, and measures 75 feet by 85 feet, which will house six offices for staff, a board room/ community room, two restrooms, reception desk and a Free Kids Program warehouse.

“Without [partner] agencies, we don’t have services for people.” “We [CVRFB] don’t service the individuals; the clients we have are partner agencies which do the work on a daily basis.” “It’s a wonderful team effort,” concluded Duke.

The Concho Valley Regional Food Bank's ribbon cutting ceremony was followed by a come-and-go celebration until 4:30 p.m. Light refreshments which consisted of cake and lemonade were served.

ADACCV's Melissa Madrid, HR Director/ Board Liaison, was the very first person to get a piece of cake.

Building A now takes center stage, meaning it will serve as an administrative office while the original 1974 building, now known as B will primarily be a distribution warehouse; both old and new buildings sit on the current property at 1313 S. Hill Street.
