SAN ANGELO – Congratulations to SAISD Assistant Director of Athletics, Mark Baker on being named the 2019 Region 2 Athletic Administrator of the Year by the Texas High School Athletic Director’s Association (THSADA).

The award is presented annually to THSADA members in recognition of their dedicated service, leadership, and special contributions to their local and regional levels of interscholastic athletic administration. Baker joins just seven others in the state who share the same distinction.

 

Baker will receive the award during the 2019 THSCA Convention & Coaching School July 21-23 in Houston.

A Monahans, TX native, Baker came to Angelo State University on a football scholarship. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Arts degree, both from Angelo State. His career in public education has spanned 29 years.

Baker taught U.S. History and World History. He also coached from 1990 until 2009, when he became the district’s assistant athletic director, a position he has held for the past nine years.
