SAN ANGELO – Among the proclamation and recognition awards presented at Tuesday’s, January 8 San Angelo City Council meeting, Mayor Brenda Gunter acknowledged one individual, Becky Dunn, City of San Angelo employee, Executive Office Coordinator for spearheading the San Angelo Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program.

“The Angel Tree program seeks to provide a Merry Christmas to underprivileged children in our community.”
In December 2018, City employees sponsored 75 Angel Tree children. One City employee was assisted in his shopping for an 8-year-old girl by a Walmart associate. Afterward, he thanked her for her help."
“No,” the young woman replied, “thank you." "I remember what it was like. It used to be my name on that tree every year. I remember getting these gifts from people. "Thank you for your service and for what you are doing" "It means more than you know.”
“Becky diligently works to ensure every child has a sponsor, and that gifts are bundled together and delivered to the Salvation Army. Therefore, I, Brenda Gunter, Mayor of the City of San Angelo, on behalf of the City Council, do hereby recognize and applaud.”

“I just want to thank the City of San Angelo employees who gave and rose to the challenge of not just meeting our goal but exceeding it” said Dunn in her brief remarks.

“It is a thrill for me to be here while Becky is being recognized for her work with the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program.” “I can’t thank you enough Becky for all that you have done to make this happen,” said Major Carr.

Attending the presentation were Major Stan Carr, commanding officer of the San Angelo Salvation Army, and his staff member, Miss Janet Sheen, Community Relations Development Coordinator; both were there to show their support for Dunn.
